Transmedia Artist & Owner at Made in Space
April is a transmedia artist and owner of the design studio, Made in Space.
She is revered for her early adoption of technology in design and her contributions to the New Wave movement. Her projects actively challenge interdisciplinary backgrounds, investigating the parallels and intersections between art and design, colour, light and space. April’s digital photography and transmedia projects, including the 1986 version of Does It Make Sense?, have been the subject of solo and group shows at galleries and museums around the world. Currently, a special installation of her newest collaborative project in augmented reality, ALT DQ; Does it Make Sense?, is on exhibition at the LA County Museum of Art. April is the recipient of numerous industry awards, including the AIGA Gold Medal. A professor at the University of Southern California Roski School of Art and Design, she holds four honorary doctorates.
