Anahit Lou

MAY 13 • 11:00 - 12:00 PM

Vancouver Community College

As AI continues to evolve, critical ethical questions emerge.

Do AI creators maintain ethical control over their creations? And if not, how can we ensure AI remains aligned with human values? Drawing from philosophy, ethics and design, this workshop explores the moral responsibility of creators, the risks of unchecked AI and practical approaches to testing and designing ethical AI systems. Through interactive demonstrations, case studies and group discussions, participants will critically analyze AI bias, ethical dilemmas and moral accountability. Learn to detect algorithmic biases, understand their impact on ethical decision-making and explore user-friendly visualization tools to analyze AI model performance. This workshop blends philosophical perspectives with hands-on engagement, transforming abstract ethical concerns into practical strategies for AI development.

Participants will gain:

– Practical insights into AI bias, oversight and accountability
– Hands-on experience in identifying AI ethical risks
– Strategies for integrating ethics into AI design and leadership
– Tools to evaluate AI ethics and mitigate harm in real-world applications
