Mauricio Alarcon

Founder at Conquistadors, New York

Mauricio is a Creative Director/Writer from Guayaquil, Ecuador. He’s the Founder and ECD of Brooklyn-based indie agency, Conquistadors. His visually-driven work, awarded at some of the most coveted shows in the industry, has become his signature style and the starting point of everything he does. In 2009, he put his soul and talent in a suitcase and traveled the world with a surfboard for 18 months, leading a team of five creatives from Europe, Australia and South America. Under the name of The Conquistadors Collective, they collaborated with top agencies all over the world, ultimately landing in New York and running the agency there for four years
more. In 2015, Mauricio put the collective on hiatus and traveled to Australia to join Saatchi & Saatchi, Sydney. That same year, he patented a surf fin that tracks individual surf rides and translates them into unique artwork. Two years later, Mauricio returned to New York full of ideas, and breathed life into the Conquistadors again, this time as a full-service advertising agency. Prior to all of this, Mauricio was a key member of the team of creatives lead by Alex Bogusky, that made Crispin Porter + Bogusky the best ad agency of the world for three consecutive years (2006-2008). Barcelona is his second home, where he lived for 8 years and worked for S,C,P,F as ECD, JWT as CD, and Y&R as a writer. Outside the world of marketing, Mauricio is a surfer, ocean lover, consumer of art and avid traveler. He’s part of the executive advisory board of Ocean52, the first drink company of the planet that invests 52% of its profits in ocean protection. Mauricio still dreams to start a career in the entertainment industry.
