Carlos Segura
Founder of Segura Inc.
Carlos Segura’s official bio reads as: Carlos Segura always wanted to do some shit. When he was young, he did some shit. Then he did more shit, which started some bigger shit. And now he’s in a lot of shit.
The shit he’s referring to involves moving to the United States from Cuba at the age of nine. He moved to Chicago in 1980 and worked for many prestigious ad agencies, including BBDO, Marsteller, Foote Cone & Belding, Young & Rubicam, Ketchum and DDB Needham. In 1991 he founded Segura Inc. to pursue design more creatively with the goal of blending as much “fine art” into “commercial art” as he could. In 1994, Carlos founded the T26 Digital Type Foundry to explore the typographical side of the business. T26 fonts are now distributed throughout the world. Carlos and his companies have received numerous awards including an AIGA Fellowship Award and from organizations such as Red Dot, Tokyo Type Directors Club, The Society of Typographic Arts, the New York Art Directors Club and the New York Type Directors Club. Segura’s clients have included Design Museum of Chicago, Geffen Records, Harley-Davidson, Jack Daniels, Nike, the Smashing Pumpkins and Willie Nelson.
