The following are recent comments we've received about your DesignThinkers 2009 experience. If you would like to share your thoughts on this and next year's conference please write to hilary at rgdontario dot com.)

» The Party was fantastic – the food was delicious, appreciated the drink ticket and LOVED the intermittent videos. Really felt interactive and energizing. Great atmosphere.

» Overall a very great conference, wonderful to meet new people who are in the business, and very inspiring to hear successful designers and their campaigns that lead them to where they are.

» The RGD staff are to be commended AGAIN for an excellent effort and I for one am so pleased to have them. We need to promote members to bring at least one client or supplier to the event. The one I brought was over the top regarding the event and the input he received from each of the sessions that he attended. He stated, as long as he is able he will be involved with RGD Ontario in some way. Seems that all we have to do is ask.

» Excellent keynote presentations! Very inspiring with lots of great work examples! Never a boring moment!

» First time attended so didn't know what to expect. It was an outstanding event(s).

» Almost too many options with the concurrent presentations - lots of ones that I wanted to attend that ran at the same time.

» I really enjoyed a lot of the speakers, if anything it was hard to choose who to see.

» The party at the Drake Hotel was great. This was my 2nd year going and I found this year much more inspiring then last year. I hope to keep up the 'tradition' of going.

» Would appreciate more Q & A's

» I loved every moment of this event and thought that the RGD did an exceptional job. My only suggestions would be to perhaps lower the price, as I know many who would have loved to attend, but could not afford it, and my second suggestion would be to possibly have more keynote speakers, as it was truly amazing to hear them speak.

» As an American coming up for the conference I enjoyed the mixture of American/Canadian presenters...and enjoyed the sizes of the groups in the presentations vs. the large HOW/MAX conferences back in the states.

» This was my first time attending the event, it was AWESOME!

» DesignThinkers 2009 a total success. Well done. (DesignThinkers always makes me feel proud to be a Designer.)

» The venue was great. It was well organized and an easy flow considering how many people attended. Really enjoyed it.

» Definitely had a good time at the conference, gained a lot more knowledge into the world of graphic design and left the conference inspired by design. /td>

» Team members came back inspired...another great event.

» Towey & Doyle were my favorite speakers. They were dynamic, funny, and deeply interesting./td>

» Bierut was the greatest speaker ever.

» Nice variety this year... The conference is becoming more diverse - a couple of the concurrent sessions that I attended, the speaker had WAY TOO MUCH information for the time alotted; their presentations were at a bionic pace; great content, but little to no chance for absorption!

» O'Reilly was an excellent surprise. Never heard him speak before but thought he was one of the top presenters.

» Speakers were all really great. Sanky especially as well as Blumenfeld.

» Casey was my favorite. Very smart, engaging, inspiring.

» Cooper was brilliant!

» The "rock star" caliber of your keynote speakers was excellent. I hope you're able to keep it up!

» The sessions that talked about the theory and thoughts behind, processes and things that did or didn't work w/designs and projects is what made it. Bierut, O’Reilly, Cooper, Towey & Doyle and Blumenfeld sessions stand out for me...

» I'm a student and new to the industry. Before I came to the conference I was worried that I might not understand what the people were talking about. Couldn't have been more wrong, the speakers were amazing! I understood them completely and they make you more passionate about what you do (or planning to do in my case).

» I liked how not all of the presentations were completely focused on graphic design. I went to some, like Evans talk, that focused on sustainability. If everyone talks about graphic design it starts to get repetitive. I like the variety.

» Neumeier and Schutzsmith had presentations with structure.. and a 'thesis' ... bravo!

» Heller was a very good speaker and his historic/political perspective was very valuable in a conference that was mainly focused on the trade of design and the work itself. Well done.

» Fantastic range of speakers covered a lot of interest and knowledge areas. Well done!

» Eckstein was very genuine and interesting, but I felt something was lacking in the visual side of her presentation.

»

I enjoyed not having to carry around a bag full of things I didn't want. I liked the "stock your own" swag bag idea. Very good, very little waste.

» More options on how to integrate specific 'green' solutions into the working creative world etc would be appropriate.

» More needs to be taught on sustainability and the word needs to be spread and as an association we can take a leadership role.

» Better on cutting back but i missed the button. Please bring back the buttons...

» Thought the aluminum water bottles was a great idea, and the water stations in the mornings

» I think its important to be as environmentally friendly in aspects of life. Glad RGD is making the environment important.

» It's a difficult challenge to green the conference but I think the hardest part is just getting the idea off the ground. Once RGD Ontario starts showing other designers what they can do to do their part I think the association will be a great leader for us.

» I had a much better time this year than last. Mostly because of the quality of the keynotes this year. The in-house forum was interesting and relevant. I would like to see it continue in future. The birthday party was well-organized and entertaining. Would like to see something like this continue next year (minus the birthday celebrations!)

» I had a great experience. It was very overwhelming, but so exciting at the same time. The overall impression of my first design-thinkers was great. My only suggestion would be to focus a bit more on people who are there for the first time and know absolutely NO ONE. Help them identify each other a bit more.

» Now that I have attended ALL DesignThinkers we need a new category - Master of the Master DesignThinker!

»

Kudos to all the RGD staff especially, and the volunteers. What an astounding amount of work must have been undertaken to pull the conference off so smoothly!

» Overall, the best design conference I've ever attended!

»

The Design and theme were kick ass.
Another excellent event. Thanks for the opportunity to see the speakers and learn as well as be inspired.

» Appreciate the suppliers that provided excellent information and displayed new products.

» I appreciate all the effort and work that everyone put into organizing and running the conference. I can see that it was a monumental task -- and I thank you all for that! For the most part, I found the conference very well organized and the staff/volunteers friendly and helpful. The birthday party was a great opportunity to socialize with other delegates and get to know each other, and I enjoyed the venue. And I appreciated the organized lunches and dinner -- very useful for making deeper professional connections. Some of the keynotes were engaging, presented professionally, and had valuable information and perspectives to share.

» Another great event and look forward to next year already.

» This is an amazing annual experience that energizes my work and teaching.

» I thought the film Art & Copy was an excellent choice.

» Before I attended the conference I wasn't sure I wanted to go into graphic design. The conference opened my eyes and renewed my passion for the field. I can't see myself doing anything else. Looking very forward to attending it next year.

» The RGD team did a great job. All attendees seemed eager to be there, learn and listen. Everybody was a sponge. It is so inspiring! Thank you for hosting another awesome DesignThinkers!

» It is an amazing event but it could be marketed more. Attendance should be higher since it is such a great event and there's nothing else really like it around. This could be because of date issues or cost. My main reason for attending has to do with networking & business relationship building.

» DesignThinkers 2009 was probably as close to perfection a conference can get! The speakers and the venue were great. I especially loved the theme & identity (with the hand-rendered type and orange, blue, green colour palette)... it was beautiful and definitely suited a design conference!!!

» Overall, it is great to have such a conference in Toronto.

» Great jam-packed 2 days, inspirational, educative and thought provoking. I always learn something new.

» Overall very impressively pulled together conference, once again.

» GREAT JOB!
